fee based referrels...

Just FYI. Browers Photography will never pay another vendor for a referrel. I firmly believe a referrel should occur because of a genuine belief in someone and not because someone was simply paid.

Peace!

Contest! -- cutest dog picture --

UPDATE UPDATE - TGIF --- you have until 7pm to submit your pics!
UPDATE - This is fun but we might have to get an independent judge since they're all so adorable. BTW, Lajuanna is a little peeved at my "cute" Lily picture. She really IS cuter than that picture :)

I've decided to spice up our little place on the web with a contest. The rules are going to be simple.

1) submit a photo of you and your honey and your puppy-dog. you both have to be in the photo and if you don't HAVE a puppy, borrow one!

2) Lajuanna and I'll be the sole judges :) and the winner receives a $10 itune card delivered via email.

3) The winner and two runner-ups will be featured on the blog

4) If you refer someone to the contest (i.e. a non-reader of this blog) have them indicate in the email who referred them, and the referrer will also receive the $10 itune card

5) email your entries to michael@browersphotography.com and don't forget to attach a jpg of your entry! The deadline is next Friday, 13 Apr.... 7pm (ouch...Fri the 13th!)

That's our dear sweet little Lily dog. Isn't she cute!!! :)

Studio B Update

I'm really excited because we're getting a lot of positive response to Studio B! Originally conceived to add to our coverage, we're getting several inquiries from couples wanting to add it to their existing coverage (events we're not photographing). That's super cool.

Tip for Today

When trying on your wedding gown, it's a good idea to take a friend along with a camera. For each gown you consider, take several photos, turning around in the different light of the room. Also use the flash on a few. Then, simply go home a take a good look at your photos on the monitor to spot any potential problems.

I can't remember where, but I recently read a story about a bride who purchased a very expensive ($6k) Kenneth Pool gown only to discover AFTER the wedding that the flash photography created a very distinct "smiley face" on the front of the gown. The smiley face was caused by the beading and would never have been caught during the fittings. She was distraught.

Okay, I found some pics (the first 2 of the actual bride, the 3rd on a runway model). ...just something to think about!

Engagement Sessions 2007

When it comes to engagement sessions, we're up for just about anything. Forest Park and Tower Grove park are extremely attractive locations and often times have significant meaning for the couple. Let your imagination run wild when thinking how you'd like to spend your e-session time. Here are some things I've been thinking about.
1) Lesser known neighborhood parks can sometimes be very cool and sometimes less crowded.
2) Forest Park - the row boats! We've talked about it with several couples but we've yet to get anyone in a boat. I even have some ideas using TWO boats, with us finally ending up in one to get some shots from the water.
3) Old cars! I'm not sure who this would appeal to, but the other day, while driving home, I thought of an old antique car place between here and Chicago. How fun would it be to take a little car trip, stopping at abandoned gas stations and such, and ending up at the old car place to take a bunch of photos with the cool cars and trucks. We're talking running boards, pickup bed, whale tails and the whole shabang. Hmmm.
4) Downtown - many, many possibilities. If you're partial to the city scene, downtown is a smorgasbord of reflective windows, textured walls, and brightly colored signs.
5) Six flags - If you like amusement parks, how about spending the day at six flags with your photographer(s)! How much fun would that be and you could get all kinds of cool shots!
6) Botanical gardens - not much to say here, but that it's a BEAUTIFUL place and there's no end to the places to roam. Keep in mind they charge a photography fee.
7) Farm - If your parents have a farm and you have some great memories there, why not take a trip to the farm. That way, you could sneak out to the barn to make out! (and be photographed!) LOL.
8) Insert your idea here (and let me know!)
....just something to think about.

PS. ...or...you could fly Lajuanna and me out to Oahu for a photo shoot on the North Shore! The photo above is a car that belonged to an artist that lives up there.

Proposal!

During a day-after brunch on Oahu, Hawaii, we had the pleasure to photograph a genuine surprise proposal. It was super cool. The extremely happy young lady had absolutely no clue it was going to happen. This was our first time to catch a surprise proposal. I wish we could do this more!

...and here's the happy phone call to mom!

Label, label, label!

In the way cool department, I just figured out I can use labels with this blog. Okay, I know, this is probably old news to most. Anyways, every post will be labeled (or categorized) so that when you click on the label, all the posts with that label will pop up. SOOooo..if you want to just see a list of engagement pics, you simply click on the engagement label and up they all pop.

So, is that sweet or what?
michael

...anyone heard of Google?

Just in case you haven't seen this, you can now SAVE your googled maps and locations. Also, they now have traffic updates for St. Louis. Just click the TRAFFIC link. So, I'll be slowly building a map of locations and venues in St. Louis. Sweet.

Just something to think about...

Trash that Dress!

---Okay, check out this cool write-up on another photographers website. It's written by a bride who decided to "trash the dress". Sweet. ---

I'm so pumped! We have an awesome bride who wants to "trash the dress"! How cool is that! No more details so it'll be a surprise. All I'll say is she's a 2007 bride and she's really into the photography! Details are still being ironed out, but whatever we end up doing, it's going to be super cool and super fun!

just somthing to think about...

extended boudoir session...

From now on, the boudoir preview posts will be here. Everyone seemed to have a blast and we captured some amazing images. The Ritz Carlton lived up to it's luxurious reputation.

Julie and Jacob - March 25, 2007

We were honored to photograph Jacob and Julie's wedding at the Jewel Box in Forest Park. The day was perfect with a fresh bloom of tulips and hyacinth inside and out! EVERYONE agreed that Julie was an amazingly beautiful bride. Filled with tradition and emotion, their Jewish ceremony was truly beautiful as well. After the ceremony, we stopped for some fun shots around the Grand Basin. The reception, at the fabulous Windows on Washington, was tons of fun with non-stop dancing.

As you can see, everyone had a great time, including us! Thank you so much for letting us be a part of you spectacular wedding day! Mazeltov!!
